VixenContest

Always a favorite, our Blitzen Caption Contest is back and the entries are rolling in faster than ever! This year Blitzen is accompanied by his sweetheart, Vixen, who is busy putting on her lipstick as Blitzen snoozes. It seems that Blitzen had a fun Christmas with his favorite beverage: wine of course! We know what Blitzen is thinking, as provided by our 2008 Blitzen caption contest winner: “I’ve fallen and I Chianti get up!” But what’s on Vixen’s mind?

Tell us what Vixen is thinking for a chance to win an 18-Bottle Touchscreen Wine Refrigerator, our Gift of the Year! 5 Runner Up’s will win $50 gift certificates. The contest expires on 12/25. That means there are two weeks left to wow our panel of judges with your witty entry!

Here is just a handful of the exciting captions we’ve received:

Pinot attention to him Santa, I’ve been good!

No rhyme or Riesling to it, red lipstick is always a must.
Wine Drinkers Make Grape Lovers
If you can’t handle the Cab, you pick up the tab.

The heart has its Reislings…

Wine on the lips, never goes to the hips!

Lips that touch WINE…will always touch mine!

Fruity and full bodied, sure and so is the wine!

I shiraz am havin’ a good holiday!

Chianti he see how beautiful I am?

Colorful lips for Merlot sips

Tune in to Our Wine & Music Pairing Contest (Just Launched)

Wine and Music Pairing Contest

Enjoying a glass of wine while listening to a great tune can be a match made in heaven. The flavors and sounds harmonize together and enhance one another in a lovely way. Music and wine is simply a natural combination. As such, we’re proud to announce an exciting new contest at WineEnthusiast.com: our Wine & Music Pairing Contest!

Here’s how it works:
Each week, we select a song from the Sony Music catalog. Tell us what type of wine you would pair with the song, and why.

Three winners will be selected each week by a voting panel of Wine Enthusiast employees
based upon originality and expressiveness.

Grand Prize: Sony Music CD prize pack, including all 10 albums featured throughout this contest and $100 Wine Enthusiast Merchandise Certificate

Honorable Mention: Sony Music CD prize pack including the current week’s featured album and $25 Wine Enthusiast Merchandise Certificate (2 Winners)

We have already been amazed by some of the fantastic entries we’ve received for this week’s selection: “America” from West Side Story, here is a little flavor for the competition:
Wine Pairing: Albariño
Wine Pairing Explanation: This is a Latin themed song so a Spanish wine
seems appropriate. The tone of the song reminds me of a block party on a
hot summer night with lots of dancing, and albariño is refreshing and has
enough fruit to be enjoyed on its own in a social setting. — Sam D.

Wine Pairing: 2005 Talbott Diamond T Estate Chardonnay
Wine Pairing Explanation: What’s best to transport you to the island of
Puerto Rico than a wine that can evoke lemon, pineapple and guava. This
tropical medley would make you side with Anita and long for the island.– Cesar M.
View this week’s song selection here, and enter for your chance to win! The contest is 10 weeks long so if this week’s selection doesn’t inspire you, simply visit the page next week. If you’re a Twitter user, be sure to use #WineMusicContest to Tweet about your entry. Let the symphony begin, best of luck!
